Every session starts on Monday morning and lasts until Tuesday afternoon.
On Monday morning, we will pick you up at Rougios, near Roure, with the donkeys that will carry your bags to Longon, giving you the oppportunity to discover the loading technique. Upon arrival, we will share lunch, then in the afternoon, we will discuss our profession together. In the evening, we will bring together the animals back to the shelter. You will then have dinner with the hikers. The next morning, you will participate in the milking session and cheese-making process. At noon, during a final exchange, we will share a snack together.
The topics covered will encompass both technical aspects of livestock farming and cheesemaking, as well as pastoralism, its history, rules, and future. We will discuss with you our activity, our choices, and our constraints, from access to pastoral resources to milk processing, not forgetting the issue of wolf predation. We will also discuss more broadly the future of French livestock farming. My roots as the daughter of a farmer and my degree in agriculture engineering lead me to permanently question the farming world.
The fee includes you luggage donkey transport,, two lunches (2x €20), one half-board (dinner, overnight stay, breakfast) at €68 or €88 per person, depending on the chosen accommodation (dormitory or room), and the half-day internships (2x €50), totalling €208 or €228 per adult. Children will only pay for the meals and half-board. The group cannot exceed 10 adults.
